Hi everyone!

As most of you know, Ray has accepted a 2-year assignment with Toyota's European Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium. For those of you who do not know, Belgium is located next to France, Germany and the Netherlands. The home of NATO and the European Union, it is considered the "gateway to Europe" with its easy access to many European countries. (Hint, hint--good excuse to come and visit!)

Ray started his new position in February, 2008. The girls and I arrived here in late March. We are living just outside the city of Brussels in the commune of Tervuren, Belgium.

Although we are sad to temporarily leave our family and friends, we are excited for this adventure. What an opportunity to leave our tiny box and experience life outside of America!

An afternoon at Speelberg (Play Wood)

N 50 48' 20", E 4 39' 49". These are the coordinates on how to get to the Speelbos in Speelberg, Belgium. What is a speelbos, you may ask? Well, it is a playground of sorts, with structures made entirely from wood and other things found in the forest. They are laid out along a trail where children (and adults) can climb and play on them...

The above coordinates would have been nice to have in advance, for it would have only taken us 15 minutes to find the Speelbos, rather than the 45 minutes it actually took us! But, as they say, it's all part of the adventure, right?

In any case, last Sunday, Ray and I packed a picnic lunch and took the girls for a walk through the forest in Speelberg. There seemed to be an endless array of paths to go through, several of which we did not have enough time to explore.

At first, some of the structures were a little disappointing, but as we ventured further along into the forest, the other structures we found were actually quite fun!

Overall, it was a nice leisurely afternoon enjoying the outdoors and fresh air. Aside from the bugs, it was a really enjoyable time.

Now there's something we wouldn't be able to do in Southern California!
