Hi everyone!

As most of you know, Ray has accepted a 2-year assignment with Toyota's European Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium. For those of you who do not know, Belgium is located next to France, Germany and the Netherlands. The home of NATO and the European Union, it is considered the "gateway to Europe" with its easy access to many European countries. (Hint, hint--good excuse to come and visit!)

Ray started his new position in February, 2008. The girls and I arrived here in late March. We are living just outside the city of Brussels in the commune of Tervuren, Belgium.

Although we are sad to temporarily leave our family and friends, we are excited for this adventure. What an opportunity to leave our tiny box and experience life outside of America!

Christmas in full swing here in Europe!

Christmas Market at Grand Place - Lille, France

The weekend before last marked the opening of the Christmas Markets here in Europe. And since David was here for another visit, we started making the rounds to see some of the European Christmas markets.

Christmas Market -- Monschau, Germany

A few of the Christmas Markets we visited were in Lille, France, Monschau, Germany and our very own market here in Brussels, Belgium. Let's see how many Christmas Markets we will visit during our last month here...

Christmas Market at Saint Catherines -- Brussels, Belgium

Dinner at DS' favorite, Chez Leon

We were also able to visit a few new places with David while he was here. We saw the towns of Tournai and Beloeil in Belgium and also visited the Japanese Pagoda and Chinese Pavilion here in Laeken. Interestingly, the Japanese Pagoda and Chinese Pavilions were commissioned by King Leopold II, aka "The Builder King" who also built The Royal Greenhouses, Royal Museum for Central Africa (and its surrounding park), and the Cinquantenaire, just to name a few.
