Hi everyone!

As most of you know, Ray has accepted a 2-year assignment with Toyota's European Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium. For those of you who do not know, Belgium is located next to France, Germany and the Netherlands. The home of NATO and the European Union, it is considered the "gateway to Europe" with its easy access to many European countries. (Hint, hint--good excuse to come and visit!)

Ray started his new position in February, 2008. The girls and I arrived here in late March. We are living just outside the city of Brussels in the commune of Tervuren, Belgium.

Although we are sad to temporarily leave our family and friends, we are excited for this adventure. What an opportunity to leave our tiny box and experience life outside of America!

Bouillon, Belgium

During the week, David, PS & I visited the town of Bouillon. An hour and a half drive from Tervuren, Bouillon is located in the Belgian province of Luxembourg, close to the French border.

It is most famous for its well preserved fortified castle which overlooks the small town and the River Semois. This large medieval castle was once owned by the notorious Duke Godfrey of Bouillon, leader of the first crusade and is thought to have been constructed between 1050 and 1067.

With an easy to follow guide map (in English!), we spent the afternoon wandering around the castle. PS had a lot of fun exploring the numerous passageways and checking out all the different rooms throughout. The castle is also home to several falcons, owls and condors which we were able to view. Although the falconry show was not available this day, it was still nice to see them up close.

We ended the day by taking a short stroll through town where I bought some yummy chocolates to keep me energized for the drive home.

And just before leaving, we drove up the hill where we got this panoramic view of Bouillon and its castle...
